Villefranche-sur-Mer

Villefranche-sur-Mer

Villefranche-sur-Mer is a commune in the Alpes-Maritimes department in southeastern France. It is located on the French Riviera, on the Mediterranean Sea, 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) east of Nice and 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) southwest of Monaco.

The town centre is at the foot of a cliff home to an 11th-century fortification, the Château de Saint-Elme. The roads in the town are narrow and winding and lead to the harbour, where boutiques, restaurants and hotels overlook the Mediterranean Sea. As a result, Villefranche-sur-Mer has been a desirable holiday destination for the wealthy and famous for many years, and its beauty has been used as a backdrop in many films.

Villefranche-sur-Mer is good for tourists visiting from the UK for their package holidays because it is a beautiful and luxurious destination that has something to offer everyone. The town is small enough to explore easily on foot, and there are plenty of boutique shops, restaurants and cafes to enjoy. The beaches are stunning and the Mediterranean Sea is crystal clear, making it perfect for swimming, sunbathing and enjoying water sports. There are also many historical sights to see, such as the Château de Saint-Elme, and the town is a great base for exploring the rest of the French Riviera.
